Merry Hill Farm is located on 16 rolling acres near historic downtown Lexington, Virginia.
About Our Sanctuary
Merry Hill Farm Equine Sanctuary was founded by Phyllis Brasenell, who rescued her first animal at the age of six.
A lifetime of rescuing dogs, cats, horses —even rabbits and frogs— she always dreamed of one day having land to offer sanctuary to senior horses.
With her husband, daughters and menagerie of animals, they made the dream come true in 2024.
The truth is, we know we can’t save them all.
But we also know our impact is deeply meaningful for the animals in our care which is why we don’t mind being a small but high-quality operation.
Our horses have friends, forage, and freedom. They live turned out 24/7 on pasture with access to safe and dry shelter, free-choice hay and live in a herd with their companions.
At Merry Hill, we want the rest of their life to be the best of their life.
